Taste of Canada 2024 in Malaysia

Event description
The High Commission of Canada in Malaysia, in collaboration with their local partner Mamami Shoppe Sdn. Bhd., is hosting the Taste of Canada in Malaysia event in Kuala Lumpur! The focus will be on showcasing staple dried, frozen and/or organic products such as:
- Confectionery and snacks
- Food-grade grains and pulses
- Fruits and vegetables
- Health supplements (e.g., digestible vitamins)
- Honey
- Ginseng
- Meat including fish and seafood
- (Note: Exporters of pork products are not eligible to register.)
- Nuts
- Wine, beer and spirits
Taste of Canada in Malaysia will be held at déMarket Supermarket (Taman Desa location). As one of the leading retail chains in Malaysia, déMarket constitutes a strong promotion local platform known for its diverse consumer base and extensive selection of premium foreign food and beverage products.
For ten days, Malaysian buyers will have the opportunity to explore the Taste of Canada section at the supermarket, where they will be introduced to a selection of Canadian products on display.
Taste of Canada in Malaysia will offer Canadian exporters the opportunity to test their products in the local market and gather valuable feedback from qualified contacts and the public through the High Commission of Canada in Malaysia. Products that receive a positive response from consumers could be considered for listing in déMarket and might be introduced to other outlets in Malaysia, including online retailers. Additionally, Mamami will evaluate the possibility of becoming the sole distributor for selected products in Malaysia.

Notes
- Interested Canadian businesses must register by August 17, 2024.
- Selected food and beverage products, samples and/or testers should be exported on a direct consignment basis.
- Participating Canadian companies will be responsible to ensure that selected products and/or promotional materials arrive in Malaysia by September 17, 2024.
- Halal certification of selected food and beverage products is not mandatory but is recommended for all selected products, with the exceptions of wine, beer and spirits.
