Why Brazil?
Brazil features considerable geological diversity and is home to world-class mining projects. The country produces over 91 different metallic and non-metallic minerals and is ranked globally in terms of production of niobium, iron-ore, manganese, graphite and bauxite. Mining is a key industry in Brazil, representing approximately 4% of the country's GDP. The sector was responsible for revenues in the order of US$15.6 billion from taxes and royalties in 2023, a trade balance from mining of almost US$32 billion, which represented roughly 32% of Brazil's trade surplus, and the generation of 204,000 direct jobs. Brazil is an attractive market for foreign investment, offering opportunities due to the country's important projects associated with critical and strategic minerals. IBRAM, the Brazilian Mining Association, projects potential investments of approximately US$64.5 billion by 2028. Brazil is keenly focused on establishing an important mining innovation ecosystem to increase productivity and efficiency in the mining and metallurgy industries, while reducing GHC emissions.
