Event description
The Angoulême International Comics Festival (Festival International de la Bande Dessinée d'Angoulême), one of the world largest events of its kind (200,000 participants, professionals and general public), will open its doors from January 30 to February 2, 2025. Its international rights and licenses market is aimed at publishing houses specializing in comics that seek to sell the rights to their titles (translation, audiovisual adaptation).
For this 52nd edition, Canada will once again host a delegation of publishers and authors who will engage in business and showcase Canadian diversity and dynamism to industry professionals and the general public.
The Pavilion Canada at the International Rights Market (MID), a showcase for Canadian comics, will be the preferred venue for professional meetings related to rights assignments and distribution. A conference and a networking event will complete the program at MID.
In the Nouveau Monde area, open to the public, there will be a promotional stand for direct sales, as well as spaces for meetings with authors and book signings. This stand will showcase the diversity of the Canadian comics scene.
This initiative is organized with the financial support of Canadian Heritage and in partnership with Livres Canada Books and Québec BD.

The Trade Commissioner Service will organize, in particular at the International Rights Market, a publishers' conference followed by a networking cocktail. This conference will be an opportunity for publishers to present their titles and news, and to debate one or more themes from the world of comics in connection with the values supported by the Government of Canada.
The Trade Commissioner will be present on the ground to provide information and support and ensure the smooth running of the event.
