Macao Entertainment Technology - Canadian Technology Accelerator

Known as the 'Las Vegas of the East', Macao is the gaming capital of Asia, with the city reclaiming its status as the world's top gaming hub by revenue in 2023. However, given the city's heavy reliance on gaming, the Macanese government has been looking to transform the city into a broader hub for entertainment, events, hospitality, gastronomic, tourism, e-sports, and arts and culture centre. In November 2023, the Government published the city's first plan on economic diversification.

Gaming operators are now looking for solutions that can diversify their offerings, such as family-friendly attractions, as they are mandated to invest more in non-gaming amenities. The six gaming operators have committed to investing a combined $15 billion in the coming decade, 90% of which must be spent on non-gaming projects.

The Macao Entertainment Technology CTA is looking to recruit high potential Canadian companies with expertise in areas of travel technology, retail and hospitality tech, Virtual Reality (VR)/Augmented reality (AR), multimedia sensory experiences, Web3 games, Artificial Intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, foodtech, and related fields. These technologies could help Macao diversify their service offerings to visitors and bring in new customers into the city.

Companies that take part in this CTA will have an opportunity to attend and showcase their technology at Beyond Expo, Macao's largest tech conference and the 'Consumer Electronics Show (CES) of Asia' as well as meet with gaming operators through organized side programs by the Trade Commissioner Service.

Testimonial

"We're engaging on a project with [one of the gaming operators]. It all started from the online pitch session you organized and we finally got in touch with their creative team and are now working on an exciting initial project with them. Hopefully this will be the start of something bigger moving forward. Thanks again for inviting us to be part of the program, really excited for this one!"
