The SelectCanada Canadian Universities Mission to Southwest China 2017, organized by the Consulate General of Canada in Chongqing, is programmed to focus on undergraduate student recruitment and will serve to position Canada as a highly competitive study destination of choice for students in Southwest China.  The southwest is one of China’s fastest growing regions and comprised of the provinces of Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou, as well as Chongqing, one of China’s four city provinces with a local population of 35 million.

This mission is scheduled to take place from March 13-18, 2017 and will reach out to Chongqing, Chengdu, Mianyang, Guiyang and Kunming. During this six day regional outreach, student recruitment fairs organized in collaboration with Canadian curriculum offshore schools, top Chinese secondary schools and a prominent Chinese commercial bank in Southwest China will provide effective exposure for participating universities to a target market with both the desire and the means to pursue undergraduate programs offered by Canada. Participating universities will have an opportunity to reach out to a large number of the most talented Chinese students and their parents throughout this regional outreach. Education marketing events organized by the Consulate General of Canada in Chongqing are well positioned to bring parents and Canadian universities together and create an exclusively Canadian environment for parents and students to think of Canada as a preferred study destination.

The Consulate General of Canada in Chongqing has a proven track record of successfully mobilizing local partners and recruiting event participants through its solid and extensive network and alliances. This is the third SelectCanada Canadian Universities Mission to Southwest China organized by the Consulate General of Canada in Chongqing and the previous two missions organized in 2015 and 2016 turned out to be a tremendous success in terms of results achieved by participating universities. SelectCanada 2017 has the capacity to accommodate a maximum of 10 Canadian universities and each participating institution will be each given 3 minutes to do a PowerPoint corporate presentation during student recruitment fairs and school visits throughout this mission. Applications to join this mission will be considered and accepted on a first-come-first-served basis.  It is free for interested Canadian universities to participate in this mission.
